Akrasia: How To Stop Procrastinating

It sounds like it should be the title of a new Netflix box set.

But it’s actually a story that involves each one of us, in some area of our lives.

You’ve probably experienced it today.

When you did a less important thing instead of something more important that you didn’t feel like.

Acted against your better judgement, you put something off.

The Greeks called this Akrasia.

Today we call it procrastination.

And procrastination, as we all know, is the killer of progress.

Dreams.

Goals.

Procrastination robs us of a better life.

Tell-tell signs include:

  • Making plans, but never taking action.

  • Occupying your days and weeks with distraction activities in place of working on your goals.

  • Justifying to yourself over and over again why something isn’t happening:

“I’m not ready”

“I’ll get to it tomorrow.”

Why does it happen?

The simple answer.

We desire pain.

We avoid pleasure.

The more sophisticated answer.

We’ve practiced ourselves into procrastinating.

Created an anchor in ourselves without ever noticing it.

Our brains pursue short term rewards now over better rewards later.

And no one taught you how to change it.

So how do you change it?

Watch the video below.

I have created a simple 8 step guide to help you kick ass on procrastinating.

You could watch it or postpone making life better. ;-)

Take a few minutes out to train your brain, so you can change your life.

When you understand how our brains are Event-Driven, you are able to design around putting things off so your life gets better right away!
